Transmigration through Great Britain @ ExCeL London
From Europe, it is estimated that forty million people emigrated between 1830 and 1930, with more than nine million travelling from Europe via Liverpool. What routes did they take through Great Britain? What immigration sources are available in England, and what documents would have been used during the immigration process? Several specific examples will be given to follow emigrants from Norway through Great Britain to North America or even Australia. What means of transport did they use? What occurred during the travel process and what occurred when they arrived in Canada or the United States?
